The Northeast Neighborhood Association/NENA of Harrisonburg is honored to publicly announce the award of the $300,000 federal grant [P25AP00243] for the “Dallard-Newman House Rehabilitation,” located at 192 Kelley Street, Harrisonburg, VA, 22807. The building is a designated Virginia Landmark and an enrolled site on the US National Register of Historic Places. NENA is grateful to our many state and local partners for their support in the application process for this award, which was part of the US Congress FY2024 Government Funding Bill. The “Dallard-Newman House Rehabilitation” is supported in part by a grant from the Historic Preservation Fund, as administered by the National Park Service, Department of the Interior. The P25AP00243 award is the latest in NENA’s distinguished record of receiving federal and state support, with past grants including a $250,000 American Rescue Plan/ARP Grant for building renovation (2021); a $29,000 Community Development Block Grant/CDBG from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development for architectural and engineering studies (2019); and a $5,150 Virginia State Award, the Threatened Places Grant for Archaeology (2019).
